Leave the Yankees and Red Sox out of it
This is poor journalism. Check out this AP story that ran on MSNBC about a woman who ran over and killed a man with her car. The headline reads:
“Yanks fan allegedly runs over, kills Red Sox fan”
Somebody was killed. Does the fact that the victim was a Red Sox fan and the suspect a Yankees fan have anything to do with the fact that someone’s dead? It would seem that the mention of this should be buried in the article. Something like: According to witnesses, the confrontation started over what was to be believed an argument between a Yankees and Red Sox fan.
It just strikes me as the media sensationalizing a story at the expense of these two sports teams who have a pretty loyal following and one of history’s best sports rivalries. Do we have to fuel it by bringing murder into it?
