When will tipping reach its tipping point?

I was somewhat surprised to read this.

Let me say, I’ve never tipped at a Starbucks or anywhere I have to carry my food from counter to table and then dispose of my own trash. You don’t tip at McDonalds so why the hell would you tip at Starbucks?

As a former restaurant owner, I know tips are a crazy aspect of the business. Like many things these days, people think they’re entitled to them and don’t feel they need to earn it.

And earning it doesn’t mean putting a plastic jug next to the register with a goofy “TIPS” scrawled out in fading magic marker. But what I hate more than the tip jar is when you get the bill and there’s a calculation at the bottom that shows what you should tip based on the cost. Unbelievable!
