Why weren’t certain things said?
“Tell me what I can do. Tell me what I can do. Tell me what you want me to do.”
I think Brian McNamee asked Roger Clemens that question almost a dozen times during their taped phone conversation. Why didn’t Clemens say “come to this press conference and tell them the truth that I didn’t do steroids!”
On the flip side, why didn’t McNamee ever say “C’mon Roger, you did it. Just admit it.”
A 17 minute conversation. I just don’t understand, unless legally, Clemens couldn’t bully the truth out of McNamee.
I’d say Clemens comes out of this press conference and phone conversation looking pretty good. From what I’ve seen the media was just salivating at the chance to crucify a legend.
I’d also say it’s time to leave Clemens alone; at least until some actual proof comes out. The Mitchell Report isn’t proof. Being a phenomenal pitcher well into his 40s isn’t proof.
